Going into the title event seeded number two, UIW won the first set before dropping the next three in the 3-1 loss to third-seeded Dallas Baptist. With the season-ending loss, Incarnate Word posted a 24-9 record, the third most matches won in a single season at UW. Dallas Baptist got its mark to 19-16 to advance to the tournament finals. During the regular season these two had split matches.

In winning the first set by two points, the Cardinals hit the ball as well as they would all day. The set percentage was .294 with just three errors in 34 attempts. The second set, won by DBU with a nine-point difference, Incarnate Word had an almost total reversal at the net by hitting just .061.

While the final two sets were closer the Cardinals could not gain any kind of dominant control of the match.

Senior middle Edie Weise closed out her UIW career by leading both teams with 18 kills. She was the only Incarnate Word player to get over the .300 hitting mark (.302). Sophomore right side Chelsea Grayson and sophomore middle Chera Smith chipped in 10 kills each.
