Incarnate Word’s Paulina Alexander has taken a significant step up the ladder with a regional honor based on her performance in the classroom.
Sophomore Paulina Alexander has been named to the district all-academic team.
The sophomore swimmer has been named to the ESPN The Magazine / CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District team. In the classroom the San Antonio Taft High School graduate is studying mathematics at UIW and over her first two years she has compiled a cumulative 3.81 grade point average.
The 10-member all-district 6 team included women athletes from a three-state area.
While she was recording outstanding grades in the classroom she experienced a remarkable year in the pool. She was All-America in four different events after finishing second in the 1,000-freestyle, 400-individual medley and 500-free, and third in the 1,650-free at the NCAA Division II National Championships.
Additionally she led the Cardinals to the title in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships and was named the league’s female swimmer of the year. She was All-RMAC in four events. She also was RMAC All-Academic.
Now Alexander’s name will transfer to the ESPN / CoSIDA All-American ballot for a vote which is upcoming in early summer.
