University of the Incarnate Word

The University of the Incarnate Word men’s golf team finished in 11th place at the St. Edward’s Invitational this week, shooting a three-round total of 964 (328-311-325).

Dallas Baptist took first with a 908 while host St. Edward’s took second at 921.

Incarnate Word’s top finisher was Will Short, who bounced back from an opening-round 85 with a 72 in round two and a 77 in the final round for a 234 to finish tied for 20th individually.

Martin Jimenez finished tied for 39th with a 238 (81-77-80) and Matt French tied for 49th with a score of 241 (78-79-84). Dean Sartoris shot a 251 to tie for 68th and Josh Rangel finished the event with a 265 (92-83-90) for 73rd.

The Cardinals’ next event will be at the Pottsboro Tanglewood Resort for the Texas A&M-Commerce Invitational on March 2-3.
