Incarnate Word’s men’s tennis team played three matches in a day and one-half and the Cardinals seemed to get stronger as time wore on.
Max Moreau went through two matches Saturday with all wins.
Friday UIW had beaten highly-regarded Laredo JC by a 5-4 count. The Cardinals came right back on Saturday morning to win over McMurry by a better score of 6-3. And then, in the afternoon Saturday, Incarnate Word flirted with a shutout in an 8-1 victory over Hardin-Simmons.
The three matches moved the Cardinals to 13-5 on the year. Now at least, the team has a few days of rest and practice before heading to Cameron in Oklahoma next weekend.
While the Cardinals had players play well, the guys at the top were unbeaten on Saturday. Max Moreau and his partner Alex Wieland won both their doubles matches while Moreau won twice at number one singles. The same could be said for Jose Arizpe as he and Carlos Olvera won twice in doubles and playing at number two singles Arizpe won twice.
