TYLER JC 6, INCARNATE WORD 3
Incarnate Word got off to a quick start Saturday but the Cardinals could not maintain the momentum as they dropped a men’s tennis match to Tyler Junior College 6-3.
UIW got wins in the numbers one and two doubles to go ahead 2-1 after that phase of the match. Junior Jose Arizpe quickly won his singles match at number two by a 7-5, 6-3 count putting UIW on top 3-1.
Then the Apaches got rolling and won the next five singles to capture the team victory. In three of those five Incarnate Word players managed to get to the third set before falling.
With the victory TJC goes to 11-2 on the year while the Cardinals are now 9-4.
Next up for UIW is a road match at Tarleton State on Tuesday.
