In a week when he led Incarnate Word to a dominating performance in the conference swimming and diving meet Nikita Belousov has added a national honor to his resume.
The recognized leader in collegiate swimming coverage, collegeswimming.com, has named Belousov its Division II swimmer of the week.
At the Rocky Mountain Conference championships February 11 to 13, he swam three individual events and won all
three—200 and 400-individual medley, and 200-backstroke. He set a new UIW school record in the 200-IM with a time of 1:51.60.
All three of his wins at the RMAC meet were “A cuts” which qualify him for competition at the upcoming NCAA Division II National Championships in mid-March. At that meet he also will swim the 100-backstroke.
With Belousov leading the way Incarnate Word won its second consecutive conference team title. The Cardinals picked all six of the individual awards presented including Belousov being named swimmer of the meet and RMAC swimmer of the year.
