Incarnate Word’s women’s track and field team was in Houston over the weekend for the Victor Lopez Classic and one UIW school mark went by the wayside.
Meagan Hoff ventured into the field for the 10,000-meters and finished sixth. Her time of 43:16.98 was good for a UIW record considering she was the first Cardinals runner to compete in that particular event. This would be Incarnate Word’s highest finish of the meet.
The Lopez Classic was hosted by Rice University and was predominately Division I teams.
Lilya Piskunova continued to show her versatility by finishing in four events. She was 14th in the 100-hurdles with a time of 16.14, and she was 12th in the triple jump with a distance of 35-09.25. Her third individual event was the javelin where she finished 11th with a heave of 98-03. She also ran the second leg on UIW’s 4x400 relay team which was 12th in 4:08.90, the second best time in Incarnate Word history.
