FOUR SCHOOL MARKS FALL AT UIW INVITATIONAL

UIW RESULTS
It was the first-ever collegiate track and field meet at Benson Stadium on the Incarnate Word campus and the Cardinals took advantage of home field with four new school records.
Lilya Piskunova was a major player for UIW with two school marks. She got it started in the javelin with a throw of 118-04 good for second place. She then came back in the 100-meter hurdles by covering the course in 15.57. That was good for sixth place.
The next Incarnate Word school mark to fall was in the 400-meter hurdles. Dakota Dougherty ran a 1:07.87 for the record and to finish fifth.
The Cardinals distance medley relay team got the final school mark of the day. The foursome of Alyson Gonzales, Jessie Fernandez, Alma Santos and Marie Troufflard finished second in the race and lowered the UIW bar to 13:11.22.
Ten schools competed in the meet. Next up for Incarnate Word is the Trinity Invitational in San Antonio on March 6.
