CARDINALS RUNNERS EARN ACADEMIC AWARD

Incarnate Word’s women’s cross country team again has been recognized for its performance in the classroom as a group.
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has included UIW on its annual list of school earning All-Academic status.
The recognition comes from having a cumulative team grade point average of 3.00 or more and having competed in the regional cross country meet. The Cardinals did run in the regional meet finishing 12th as a team, and their GPA is a cumulative 3.59.
That classroom mark put the Cardinals in the top 10 in the nation which was topped by Seattle Pacific University with its 3.72 GPA.
The Heartland Conference was represented by Incarnate Word and by Newman. Next fall UIW will be competing as a new member of the Lone Star Conference and that league was represented on this current USTFCCCA elite list by five universities topped by Abilene Christian and its 3.41 cumulative GPA.
