The men’s’ golf team for University of the Incarnate Word finished in seventh place at the 2010 Heartland Conference Men’s Golf Championships in Edmond, Oklahoma, this week.
St. Edward’s Univeristy narrowly took first with a three-round score of 844, just two strokes better than St. Mary’s University in second place. Dallas Baptist finished third with an 851.
Incarnate Word improved it’s play, as a team, every round – starting with a 317, and then following it up with a 307 in round two. Finally, the Cardinals shot a 294 in round three to finish with a 918.
Josh Hart finished as the top Cardinal, shooting 78-72-72 (par for the course was 72) for a 222 and a tie in 19th place overall.
Alejondro Flores (76-78-75—229) finished tied for 25th. Dean Sartoris shot 79-77-74—230 for a tie in 28th. Andre Gonzaba shot a 237 (84-80-73) for 33rd and Jordan Lambkin shot 84-81-76 for a 241 and 36th place overall.
