Three members, two men and one woman, of Incarnate Word’s swimming and diving teams have been selected as academic performers for the schoolyear 2009-2010.
Junior Lesley Murray is a member of the first team for the ESPN/The Magazine Academic All-District team. Over her time at UIW Murray has maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.97 while studying kinesiology. This is the first time for her to receive this particular award. Twice she has been Rocky Mountain Conference (RMAC) all-academic and a year ago she received the D-II ADA Academic Achievement Award.
On the men’s side both Sean Reeves and Aliaksandr Yatsko were first team ESPN/The Magazine Academic All-District. And like Murray this is the first time for each of them to be voted onto this team.
The ESPN honor comes after Reeves was named the RMAC academic athlete of the year. A junior Reeves has a cumulative GPA of 3.95 in accounting. Earlier this spring he received the UIW Accounting Excellence Award. Like Murray, a year ago he was awarded the D-II ADA Academic Achievement Award.
Yatsko, while a junior in swimming eligibility, this spring received his bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. His cumulative grade point average is 3.70. The two-time national champion in the 500-meter freestyle is RMAC all-academic.
