Following the 2010 track and field season a threesome of Incarnate Word runners have been recognized for their performances on the oval as well as in the classroom.
The USTFCCCA (coaches association) has announced its 2010 all-academic honorees. The qualifications are at least a 3.25 grade point average in the classroom along with meeting provisional standards for the national championships.
The group of Cardinals included George and Christian Alicea along with Corey McDonnough. These guys were three-fourths of the UIW 4x400 relay team. While they did not run at the national championships they did meet the provisional standard in the event.
In the classroom George Alicea has posted a cumulative 3.94 while his twin brother Christian is at 3.88. Both are now seniors and both are studying business marketing. McDonnough has a cumulative GPA of 3.34. He is studying mathematics and is now a sophomore.
