For the fourth straight year Incarnate Word’s men’s track and field team has been recognized as being one of the top academic squads in Division II.
The USTFCCCA (coaches’ association) has announced its schools earning all-academic honors nationwide and UIW’s Cardinals are sixth on the list.
The Cardinals posted a team cumulative grade point average of 3.29 and that mark is sixth among all D-II universities. The leading GPA was 3.58 from Slippery Rock in Pennsylvania.
The Incarnate Word run was led by three athletes who recently earned individual all-academic honors—George and Christian Alicea and Corey McDonnough.
To qualify for the team award teams must have had at least a cumulative 3.00 GPA.
